Frequently Asked Questions

  • We begin with a brief complimentary phone conversation to help me understand what kind of support you’re looking for. I’ll ask for some basic information and take time to answer any questions you might have.

  • The intake session is a 90-minute appointment, which can be done in-person or virtually, where we explore your background, concerns, and goals more deeply. It provides a foundation for our work together and helps ensure that therapy is aligned with your goals and theraputic needs.

  • In our first few sessions, we’ll get to know each other, identify your therapy goals, and begin exploring the patterns and challenges you’re facing. Whether you want to process trauma, build healthier relationships, manage anxiety and stress, or feel less “stuck,” we’ll develop a plan that reflects what’s most important to you.

  • I offer in-person sessions at two convenient locations in Ottawa South. On Mondays and Thursdays, I see clients at my office at 2211 Riverside Drive. On Tuesdays and Wednesdays, I’m located at the Ottawa Anxiety and Trauma Clinic inside Billings Bridge Mall.

  • Somatic Experiencing is a body-focused, neurobiological approach to processing stress and trauma. When we go through overwhelming experiences, our nervous system can become stuck in a fight, flight, or freeze response, leading to symptoms like anxiety, hypervigilance, or feeling disconnected from ourselves and others.

Rather than relying solely on talking, Somatic Experiencing focuses on physical sensations and movements. By gently tuning into your body's signals, we can help your nervous system release stored tension and return to a more balanced state. We go at a slow, comfortable pace, ensuring that you feel safe and supported throughout the process. I work collaboratively with you, tailoring each session to your needs so that healing happens in a way that feels right for you.

  • My approach to trauma therapy is warm, creative, and rooted in compassion and empathy. I believe in building on the strength and resilience you already carry. As each person’s experience of trauma is unique, our work together will be tailored to your individual needs. No matter what that looks like, my priority is always to create a supportive and “safe-enough” space in therapy so that, over time, you can begin to feel more connected to yourself and others.

Trauma therapy doesn’t always involve revisiting painful memories. Sometimes we laugh, we create, we move our bodies, and connect to our inner child. I use a combination of talk therapy, Somatic Experiencing (body-based approach), mindfulness, Internal Family Systems, and other modalities to support you as you process and heal. Together, we will help you build healthy coping skills and increase distress tolerance. Over time, you will understand what connecting to your body feels like, understand how to process emotions and begin to embody emotional safety.

I will celebrate your wins along the way and be there when things get hard. As you do this difficult work, you will begin to connect to your authentic self, relate better to others and live a life that feels meaningful and fulfilling to you.
